Time machine

Today I woke nostalgic, nostalgic to a time that I never knew and never lived in.

My only remedy is to throw myself into my closet for some eclectic inspirations.

Today I decided to take a trip through eras, a trip through time. From the 40’s, down back to the 20’s and last to the late 1800’s, this outfit will shout ECLECTICISM.

This outfit is retro chic, retro simple and so easy to put together.

As a start find a modern 40’s inspired dress.

I chose a warm color inspired by the colors of the sun perfect to brighten your mood in gloomy winter. The “tutu” addition to the dress will give your body sexy and curvy shape and would also help give a nice toned line to your silhouette.

I like the detailing on the dress’s collar. I also like the simple geometric lines that give a modern edge to a romantic fluid dress. Good balance between two contrasts.

This geometric collar, gives preparation to the shift in design inspiration that comes with the 20’s headpiece.  A golden ornamented headpiece flows down with sharp straight golden metallic lines, to compliment the geometry of the collar. This Roaring 20’s Headpiece, flapper style beaded headpiece crowned the heads of millions of ladies, during chic soirees and cabarets. This headpiece specifically, is a vintage Cleopatra headpiece inspiration. If you are looking to feel like a chic glamorous queen this looks is perfect for you.

As a second step, finish of the look with brown Chinese late 1800’s inspired booties. The neck or throat of these booties is tightened up with ornamented lace in a form of “tutu” flower to compliment the “tutu” of the dress. Golden strass on the booties will compliment the gold in the headpiece.

Last but not least, throw on velour Chinese kimono coat for a warmer feel. Cozy, chic and cold proof, this ornamented kimono will link all elements of your outfit together.

A modern, sophisticated and elegant women can easily pull this look off.

The elements of this outfit are all combined form different eras, different times and different cultures, yet it still screams late 20s early 30s and that’s the beauty of eclecticism.
